Baby Cardigan

And it's finished,
February Cardigan

I have to say it was a bit of a trial occasionally and is a prime example of having to read the pattern several times before launching yourself at it. Buttonholes are necessaryand you need to be thinking of them almost from the off. I used Weezalana's notes a lot while knitting and did knit the sleeves in the round as well. Once you get into the swing of the pattern it is relatively easy.

This is for my cousin's baby who was born this week. It's knit in James C Bret's Pure Merino, a machine washable yarn, the buttons are from my stash.

Shrunken socks

So I was proud of Mac's Birthday Socks, they looked good, he was happy with them, I was happy with them. They looked good.

This was them before they were finished

And then I finished them, and washed them (they were supposed to be superwash), and they just fit me now, they felted.

Shrunken sock

Yes, they're warm and they're nice but they were supposed to be his birthday socks, he was supposed to get mileage out of them!

Gift for a Steam Iron

A colleague in work decided that because I was having a stressful week and one of my last straws was not being able to find my iron that I needed one, I decided that he needed something and I thought this might be a good response.

A scarf. It's double sided and actually quite warm and nice and it's made out of wool from Lidl that I had in the house. It's warm and washable and that's good because my colleague isn't all that bothered about serious care of garments.

It's also almost impossible to photograph because of the colours, it has three strands of colour in the yarn, white, grey and black and it's quite soft. It took four balls of the yarn and is long enough I think, five would be long enough for me but it's a bit bulky for me. Husband thinks it's a good man scarf. The pattern was Steam Scarf (link to PDF) free from D-made.com's free patterns

Bainin Hemlock

This weekend I'm going to Galway for my Nieces' Christening. The yarn was from an Aunts' collection. She died a few years ago from Breast Cancer and was my brother's (the father of my niece) godmother. I thought it would be apt and continuing history with family.

It's the Hemlock ring Blanket, basically an adapted doily pattern, a very clever idea.
