I made myself some promises this year, to knit things that suited me and to try to ensure that I examined things while I knit them to ensure that they're actually good for me.  And then I spent the last two months doing a fair amount of knitting, so this is going to be a long post.

So far this year I've knit over 4km of yarn! I feel pretty chuffed with myself. I'm almost finished my Vog On socks, I got a chunk of them done during PCon last weekend and I'm happy with them.  The Nevada City Windows cardigan is almost there too. After that I'm going to go back to the Garter Stitch Cardigan and fix those damned sleeves

Two finished items

Several people I know are having children so I've started making a few baby gifts which are going to be stored until the time is right, here are two of them

Circular Baby Blanket

available free here I like the way it turned out, after knitting my way around I knit 2 rows of seed stitch then a k2tog yo row and then 2 more rows of seed stitch before abandoning knitting and crocheting 4 rows of trebles (doubles in US) leaving 2g of this yarn left.

designed by Irish Designer Carol Feller and published in Knitty here Made from leftovers from the second Art of Knitting throw, a fun knit. I thought I had enough left of the two colour block to make it in one colour but I like how it worked, I also couldn't find the green colour for a while so there's an uneven number of squares of each colour but I reckon a kid will like it anyway.

Bainin Hemlock

This weekend I'm going to Galway for my Nieces' Christening. The yarn was from an Aunts' collection. She died a few years ago from Breast Cancer and was my brother's (the father of my niece) godmother. I thought it would be apt and continuing history with family.

It's the Hemlock ring Blanket, basically an adapted doily pattern, a very clever idea.
